EQUIPMENT - APPLICATION SPECIFICATIONS & GUIDELINESTPEC Micro-Cell Thermal Barrier Energy Saving Elastomeric Coating is a single component, high solids insulation type coating designed and developed for application by standard airless paint / coating equipment.. The coating may also be applied by roller or brush, and forms a seamless rubber type of membrane. AIRLESS PAINT/COATING PUMP: TPEC Micro-Cell Thermal Barrier Coatings require a single component high-pressure airless paint/coating pump, capable of maintaining 3000 p.s.i. fluid pressure, with a 30:1 ratio. It Is Important To Remove All Inline Filters From The Pump and Gun. FLUID HOSE: The hose should be nylon lined fluid hose rated for the maximum pump pressure. Hose lengths should be up to 200 feet, with the first 150 feet 3/8 inch I.D. and the last 50 feet to the spray gun should be 1/2 inch O. D. These combinations are necessary to minimize the pressure drop through the hose and maintain a consistent flow of the coating. SPRAY GUN: The spray gun to be used should be an airless type designed for use with viscous materials and pressure rated for maximum system pressure. A reverse clean style Tip with a #631 Orifice and 60° to 80° fan angle. For optimum application characteristics, TPEC coating in its pail should maintain a minimum of 50°F (10°C). Application of the coating should not be done if temperatures are below 45°F (7.2°C). This product and most other water based paints and coatings must be kept from freezing, if freezing does occur the product is useless, and must be disposed of following environmental rules and regulations. MIXING / BLENDING INSTRUCTIONS: TPEC is packaged and shipped in five (5) U.S. gallon poly containers. Before use coating Must Be Mixed Well. If mixing by hand, use a folding type of method, by slowly turning the material over as not to blend in too much air. If using a electric mixing device, use Slow Speed Only with a blade or mixing paddle. Slow speed Must be used as not to damage the micro bubbles, or mix or blend excess air into the coating. COVERAGE: 2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. yields 20 dry mil 3 gallons per 100 sq. ft. yields 30 dry mil When estimating area of roof, add 20% for pitch and ribs. THINNING or TINTING: Thinning is not required or recommended. TPEC may be tinted, but for the Best Results the coating should be left white. If tinting is required, Use Only Light Pastel Colors. After tint is added, slowly mix/blend well until color matches desired color or sample. CLEAN UP & STORAGE: Use clean water flushing through hoses, pump, spray gun and other equipment that came in contact with the coating. Clean up any spills with soap and clean water before it dries. Any over spray over 5 feet will dry in fall to ground, or floor etc. and can be swept away. Store unused product in tightly sealed container, where ambient temperatures will not reach below freezing. If product is stored correctly, it should have a shelve life of two (2) years. PREPARATION FOR APPLICATION: To ensure proper adhesion prior to application of the TPEC, substrates must be free and clear of rust, dirt, oil, grease, mil-scale, moisture and any foreign substances which could effect the adhesion of the coating. Need A Clean, Dry, Oil/Grease, and Rust Free Surface. SPRAY EQUIPMENT: Gasoline Type: Minimum - Airless sprayer. 3000 p.s.i, 2 g.p.m. capacity, manufactured by Graco, or similar. Spray Lines & Gun: As recommended previous under ‘Fluid Hose’, and ‘Spray Gun’, Use Graco or similar type equipment. Remove All In-Line Filter Systems. Spray Tips: Graco reverse-a-clean or similar type of spray with a #631 tip. It is very important that the air line fittings from compressor to the pump Or from a shop-air system to pump be determined in advance...
