Test Objective:
To determine how much oil is absorbed by the pillow and geotextile fabric
used in the Ultra-DrainGuard - Oil and Sediment model.
Test Descriptions:
· Test 1 - The absorbent pillow was placed in a lab tray. Motor oil (30w) was slowly poured on top of, and around the pillow from approximately 3-4 inches. After complete saturation, the pillow was hung up and the excess oil allowed to drip off.
· Test 2 a DrainGuard without the absorbent pillow was placed in a large container. Motor oil (30w) was slowly poured, on top of, and around the DrainGuard. After complete saturation, the DrainGuard was hung up and the excess oil allowed to drip off.
Test Results (Test #1):
Pillow of absorbent (dry) .. 385.5 g
Total oil poured onto/around pillow .. 788.8 g
Pillow of absorbent (following saturation period). ... 1073.1 g
Total oil absorbed by pillow .. . ..687.6 g
Test Results (Test #2):
DrainGuard (dry) . .. 538.0 g
Total oil poured onto/around DrainGuard . 3056.5 g
DrainGuard (following saturation period). . ... 3019.7 g
Total oil absorbed by DrainGuard .. . ..2481.7 g
Conclusion: The current Ultra-DrainGuard, Oil & Sediment Model has the capacity to retain 3169.3 grams of oil that is the equivalent of .87 gallons of oil.
